What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(Temporary Closing Of Quakers Lane, Potters Bar) - Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Quakers Lane, Potters Bar from its junction with Athlone Close north westwards for a distance approximately 34m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Quakers Lane, A1000 (Hatfield Road/Great North Road), Church Road and Quakers Lane.

The Order is needed because water connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 20 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 8 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Tollgate Road, North Mymms) - Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Tollgate Road, North Mymms from its junction with Dixons Hill Road north westwards to its junction with Bullens Green Lane, a distance of approximately 366m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Dixons Hill Road, A1000 (Great North Road/Hatfield Road/High Street), B556 (Mutton Lane/Cecil Road/St Albans Road/Ridge Hill), A1081 Bell Lane/Oxbridge, Coursers Road and Tollgate Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be carried out on or near the Road.
The Order is made in accordance with Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and will come into force on 12 July 2026 and will remain in force for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Harmer Green Lane, Digswell) - Order No. 2 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Harmer Green Lane, Digswell from its junction with Harmer Dell south westwards for a distance of approximately 140m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Harmer Green Lane, New Road, Alde Avenue and Harmer Green Lane.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be carried out on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 8 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing And Waiting Restrictions On Kingswell Ride And Burleigh Way, Cuffley) - Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:
1. That length of Kingswell Ride, Cuffley from its junction with Burleigh Way north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

2. That length of Burleigh Way, Cuffley from its junction with Kingswell Ride north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to revoke various existing Orders no longer relevant in the County of Hertfordshire as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new waiting restrictions in parts of Welwyn Garden City as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a new 20 mph zone and new 40 mph speed limits on parts of Welham Green, Hatfield as specified in Schedules 1 and 2 to this Notice.

It is also proposed under section 90A - 90F of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with The Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999, to install speed tables and speed cushions in those lengths of Dixons Hill Road and Station Road, Welham Green, Hatfield as included in Schedule 3 to this Notice.

Raised Speed Tables

Dixons Hill Road
- (a) from a point 2 metres south west of a point in line with the boundary between 19 and 20 Barfolds.
- (b) from a point 17.6 metres west of a point in line with the projected west kerb line of the access road into the car park adjacent to 155 Dixons Hill Road.

Station Road
- from a point 3.9 metres south east of a point in line with the boundary between 37 and 39 Station Road.

The above raised speed table will be constructed at a height of approximately 65mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:20.

Speed Cushions

Dixons Hill Road – centred on a point 1 metre north east of a point in line with the boundary between 9 and 10 Barfolds.

The speed cushions to be laid in pairs will be constructed at a height of approximately 65mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:8 and side gradients of approximately 1:5.
