THE A500 AND A5006 TRUNK ROADS (STOKE-ONTRENT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A500 and the A5006 Trunk Roads at Sideway in the City of Stoke-on-Trent, to allow bridge deck resurfacing and footpath upgrade works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to close –
(1) the southbound carriageway of the A5006 from its junction with the link road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A500, to its roundabout junction with the Recycling Centre access and egress road and the slip roads leading to and from the southbound carriageway of the A500;
(2) the northbound carriageway of the A5006 from its roundabout junction with the Recycling Centre access and egress road and the slip roads leading to and from the southbound carriageway of the A500, to its junction with the link road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A500; and
(3) the dedicated right turn lane of the link road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A500 to the A5006.
The work is expected to start on Sunday 26 July 2026 and continue for approximately six months. The closures will be in place for 24 hours a day for the duration of the work. The Order will come into force on 20 July 2026.
Vehicles being used in connection with the work will be exempt from the closures. Diversion routes using alternative junctions of the A500 will be signed.
