FARINGDON (LECHLADE ROAD) – PROPOSED RELOCATION OF EXISTING TRAFFIC CALMING FEATURE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council under the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 and all other enabling powers – proposes to relocate the existing speed cushion traffic calming feature on the A417 Lechlade Road in Faringdon (currently located 35 metres northwest of the junction with Canada Lane), approx. 14 metres north-westwards from its current location, as a result of adjacent development and the creation of a new access junction.

Documents giving details of the proposals are available for public inspection online by visiting: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk Copies may also be made available on request.

Objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made and any other representations, may be sent in writing to the address below (or via the web address above) no later than 24 July 2026. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Date of Order: 13 July 2026

Coming into force: 20 July 2026

This Order is being introduced because of Thames Water pressure valve installation which is anticipated to be completed on 31 July 2026. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in part of Weston Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 29 June 2026

Coming into force: 6 July 2026

This Order is being introduced because of gas main replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 4 September 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Reading Road from the junction with Papist Way to outside No.16 Reading Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Pedestrian access maintained past closure. Cyclists must dismount and walk past closure. The alternative route for through traffic is via the A329 – A4130 – A417 – A329 and vice versa. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The alternative route is via the A329, Wallingford Road and vice versa. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Came into force: 1 May 2023

This Order was introduced because of the construction of 317 dwellings off Twelve Acre Drive. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily footpath 326/5 (northeast of the junctions of Twelve Acre Drive and Oxford Road). Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for pedestrian access to property which are only accessible from the closed section of footpath. Appropriate traffic signs are displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force. The alternative route for those affected by the closure is around the north side perimeter of the development. This Order, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport, will continue to remain in force until July 2028 or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Prohibition of Through Traffic & Footpath Closure

Date of Order: 13 July 2026

Coming into force: 22 July 2026

This Order is being introduced because of essential gas main replacement works which are anticipated to be completed 1 September 2026. This is a 24 hour daily closure. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Denchworth Road from outside Fitzwaryn School to the junction with St Marys Way, and closure of the footpath from beside No.40 Denchworth Road eastwards into the junction with Tinkerbush Lane and towards Witan Way. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians only for Denchworth Road. Simmonds Walk there is no pedestrian access. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily part or whole sections of the Footpath Nos.235/3/50, 235/3/40, 235/11/10 to the west of Letcombe Brook. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath. The alternative route is signed locally around the east side. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. With the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport the order remains in force until 4 August 2027 or until he works are complete whichever is the sooner.

Wallingford, St George Road

Prohibition of Vehicles

Date of Order: 13 July 2026

Coming into force: 21 July 2026

This Order is being introduced because of resurfacing works which is anticipated to take 5 nights (weekdays only) from 20:00 to 06:00hrs) to be completed. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in St George Road between the junctions with Millington Road and Wigod Way and St Georges Green Loop in its entirety. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic around the road closure is as follows: Traffic wishing to access Wilding Road will be diverted west along Station Road, to turn up St Nicholas Road returning back to the northern end of St Georges Rd/Wilding Road, and vice versa. Traffic wishing to access Blackstone Road, will be diverted east along Station Road/High Street, to turn north along Castle Street, to turn west into Norries Drive, returning to Blackstone Road, and vice versa. Access to Clapcot Way will be maintained via St Nicholas Road only. The presence of No Waiting cones means that Waiting/Parking will not be permitted. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

This Order is being introduced because of excavations for cabling works as part of electricity network upgrade, and which are to be completed 5 July 2026. This is a 24 hour daily speed limit reduction. The effect of the Order is to temporarily reduce traffic speed to 30mph from the B4015 Golden Balls roundabout southwards to a point approx. 300 metres from the entrance to Burcot Farm Cottages. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
