What is happening?
OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(WESTWELL PARISH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The effect of the order – in order to help improve road safety on local roads – is to introduce a 20mph speed limit in Westwell (near Burford) replacing the existing 30mph speed limit within the village, leading out to the following points:-
- Signet Hill – a point 25 metres northeast of its junction with the unnamed road to Holwell/Bradwell Grove (replacing part of the existing 60mph National speed limit).
- The unnamed road to Holwell/Bradwell Grove – a point 160 metres southeast of its junction with Signet Hill (also replacing part of the existing 60mph National speed limit)
- The unnamed road running NW to County boundary – a point 260 metres north of its junction with the unnamed road running SW to the County boundary (also replacing part of the existing 60mph National speed limit),
- The unnamed road running SW to the County boundary – a point 20 metres southwest of its junction with the unnamed road running NW to County boundary.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Westwell Parish) (Restricted Roads) Order 2001 will be revoked/replaced as required.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 31 July 2026. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public. Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Standlake to Northmoor Road
Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 13 July 2026
Coming into force: 20 July 2026
This Order is being introduced because of bridge replacement works which are anticipated to be completed on 31 August 2026. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the section of road carried by Clacks Bridge. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Pedestrians will retain use of the bridge. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible up to the point of the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure will be signed locally.
This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17413/RAG)

Prohibition of Through Traffic
Date of Order: 22 June 2026
Coming into force: 29 June 2026
This Order is being introduced because of topographical and drainage surveying which is anticipated to be completed on 24 July 2026. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the whole length of Chapel Road and South Leigh Road between 0930 and 1530hours weekdays. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure will be signposted locally.
This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T17883/RAG)

Cassington, Footpath by The Tennis
Date of Order: 29 June 2026
Coming into force: 6 July 2026
This Order is being introduced because of gas main replacement which is anticipated to be completed on 7 August 2026; this is a 24 hour daily closure. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily the section of footpath passing The Tennis south-eastwards from Yarnton Road to outside property No.16. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath. The alternative route will be signed locally. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
