Notice of Special Event Order

Various Footpath Closures and Road Restrictions

Date of Order: 29 June 2026

Coming into force: 13 July 2026

This Order is being introduced on the grounds of public safety and security associated with the Wilderness Festival event which is organised by Mama Festivals Limited, 30 St John Street, London, EC1M 4AY. The live entertainment for the event will be from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August. The road closures however, due to the build-up and dismantling around the event will have effect variously from 8am Monday 13 July until 8pm Tuesday 11 August.

Footpath Closures

The effect of the Order is to close those parts of Footpath Nos.175/1/20, 175/1/30 (Cornbury & Wychwood Parish) and 214/6/10 (Finstock Parish) that are within the compound area from 08:00 13 July to 20:00 11 August.

The alternative route will be signed via the nearby Footpath 214/5/10. Appropriate signage will be displayed to indicate when these measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for event organisers. This Order will remain in force only for the duration of the measures associated with the event.

Road Restrictions

Grammar School Hill will be closed from its junction with Woodstock Road from 00:01 30 July to 18:00 3 August;

There will also be No Waiting/Stopping on the following length of road: Grammar School Hill between North Lodge Drive (Yellow Gate) and Fiveways Junction from 00:01 30 July to 18:00 3 August;

There will also be No Waiting/Stopping on the following length of road: Grammar School Hill between North Lodge Drive (Yellow Gate) and Charlbury Pre-School from 00:01 30 July to 18:00 3 August.

Prohibited Left Turns as follows:

Into Grammar School Hill – from North Lodge Drive (Yellow Gate) from 00:01 13 July to 20:00 11 August;

Into Hatching Lane – from Cranehill entrance (Blue Gate) from 15:00 2 August to 16:00 3 August

Prohibited Right Turns as follows:

Into Hatching Lane – from Cranehill entrance (Blue Gate) from 15:00 2 August to 16:00 3 August;

Into the B4437 – from the junction with Hatching Lane from 15:00 2 August to 16:00 3 August;

7.5 tonne maximum weight restriction: On Leafield Road, Fairspear Road and Lower End, to the junction with The Ridings to prevent heavy event traffic through Leafield from 09:00 13 July to 20:00 11 August. (Ref: S26-014)
