What is happening?
Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTRA 1984) and Regulation 3 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Procedure Regulations 1992 (SI 1992/1215)
Portobello and Leavy Greave Road (Temporary Restrictions) #5 Order 2026 (“the Order”)
1. Sheffield City Council gives notice that it proposes to make the Order under Section 14(1) of the RTRA 1984 and any other enabling powers over an area of the highway named Portobello and Leavy Greave Road from St George's Terrace to Hanover Way.
2. The Order is needed because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said highway.
3. If the Order is made, the Order will come into operation on 16 July 2026 and will remain in force for a period of six months. The duration of the Order can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport. The restriction specified will only have effect at such times and to such extent as indicated by the display of notices.
4. While the Order is in operation: pursuant to Section 14(4), (7) and (8) of the RTRA 1984, any relevant provision contained within a prevailing Traffic Regulation Order, including - THE SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, CENTRAL AREA)(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, PRESCRIBED TURNS AND PROHIBITED TURNS) ORDER 1992, and
- THE SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL (CONTROLLED ZONE) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND ONE WAY TRAFFIC (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 1987
which is capable of suspension under those powers may be suspended where that is necessary for the purposes of allowing contractor plant, local authority and emergency services personnel and vehicles to proceed in the area of highway described in paragraph 1 to the Order.
5. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained at all times.
