Kirklees - Multiple Road Traffic Notices
What is happening?
KIRKLEES COUNCIL
(TRAFFIC REGULATION)
(CONSOLIDATION ORDER PROVIDING ON-STREET PARKING PLACES, WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS AND MIGRATION TO A ‘MAP-BASED’ FORMAT) ORDER 2024
(AMENDMENT NO. 04) ORDER 2026
STATION ROAD, TOWN END ROAD & NEW MILL ROAD, HOLMFIRTH
The Council of the Borough of Kirklees propose to make the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects lengths of roads in the Holmfirth area of the Kirklees district, will be to:
(i) Prohibit the waiting of vehicles at any time on lengths of the following roads in Holmfirth:
1. Station Road
2. Town End Road
3. New Mill Road
(ii) Introduce permit holder parking places on lengths of Station Road that will be in operation between 08:00 – 18:00 on all days
(iii) Revoke the existing parking permit holders parking places on lengths of Station Road which will no longer be required when the above measures are introduced
Due to ongoing parking pressures experienced by residents further along Station Road, Holmfirth, it is proposed to extend the uppermost permit parking bay and include the affected properties within the scheme. These changes are intended to improve parking opportunities and enable residents to park closer to their homes.
To prevent the displacement of non-residential parking, and to discourage parking in unsuitable or unsafe locations on the opposite side of the road, it is also proposed to introduce double yellow line restrictions at these locations.
As part of the scheme, a bus stop clearway is also proposed to ensure that safe and unobstructed access is maintained for bus services operating along this route. While the bus stop clearway will not form part of the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), it will be included within the proposals to ensure that all stakeholders are informed of its introduction.
Overall, it is considered that these proposals will enhance parking provision for residents while maintaining safe and efficient access along the road for all users.
