What is happening?

SURFACE DRESSING – NEWRY AREA

Notice is hereby given that the Department for Infrastructure using its powers under Article 7
(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, has temporarily
prohibited the use, to through traffic of roads as detailed in the following:
Surface Patching Work will be taking place on a number of nearby roads in the Down locality
but works will be programmed to ensure only one road will be closed at a time.
• Surface Patching is planned for the 2 week period Tuesday 30/06/2026 to Monday
13/07/2026.
• Only one road will be closed at a time. Daylight hours only.
• Max duration for any closure will be three days although expected much shorter than that
• An alternative route for traffic will be signed locally for each closure.

Roads:
Access for emergency vehicles will be facilitated although a short time will be required
to clear the way.
All Traffic Management arrangements shall comply with the requirements of Chapter 8 of the
Traffic Signs Manual and the Code of Practice ‘Safety At Street Works and Road Works’. All
Traffic Management arrangements to be installed by persons trained in accordance with the
relevant National Highway Sector Scheme.
