What is happening?

THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
THE BENCE, BISHOP WILTON

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the
effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing
any vehicle to proceed/from proceeding along
The Bence, Bishop Wilton. The reason for the
closure is to enable the proposed The Bence, Bishop
Wilton works to install ducting and chambers for
the new BDUK fibre network on behalf of Quickline
Communications, to be carried out and completed
in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of
the public. It is anticipated that the works will be
completed within five days.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order
is via Garrowby Hill A166 onto A166 York Road
heading east onto Fridaythorpe Road and along Main
Road, Millington CP, Bishop Wilton CP, Kirby Underdale
CP, Wolds Weighton Ward. The road will be closed
to all through traffic but access will be maintained for
residents, emergency vehicles and pedestrians.
The Order will commence 20 July 2026 and continue
in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months
or until the works which it is proposed to carry out
have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Further
