What is happening?

DARLINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2026 LOW CONISCLIFFE FOOTPATH 5

Darlington Borough Council made an Order on 28th July 2025, under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which was to close:

LOW CONISCLIFFE FOOTPATH 5

From its junction with Staindrop Road southwards for approximately 520metres

The Order is necessary to allow construction of a housing development.

As the works are still ongoing the Secretary of State for Transport has granted an extension of the Order until 5th January 2028 or until such time as the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
