Footpath No.24, Odd Down - Modification of footpath

NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDER SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL CITY OF BATH DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT
BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL (No. 24 – ODD DOWN) 2025
The above Order, made on 11th December 2025, has been confirmed by Bath and North East Somerset Council without modification. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them the following footpaths: 
1. BC31/2 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Old Fosse Road at ST 7341 6195 and proceeding in a generally ESE direction for approx 37m to Upper Bloomfield Road at ST 7344 6194. 
2. BC31/3 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Wellsway at ST 7355 6190 and proceeding in a generally NW direction for approx 49m to ST 7351 6193. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 70m to Colbourne Road at ST 7356 6198. 
3. BC31/4 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Mendip Gardens at ST 7372 6182 and proceeding in a generally N direction for approx 39m to ST 7372 6186. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 3m to ST 7372 6186. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 5m to ST 7372 6187. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 33m to Banwell Road at ST 7375 6189. 
4. BC31/5 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Banwell Road at ST 7390 6189 and proceeding in a generally S direction for approx 14m to a junction with public footpath BC31/6 at ST 7391 6188. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 21m to Cranmore Place at ST 7393 6188.
5. BC31/6 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC31/1 at ST 7390 6185 and proceeding in a generally NNE direction for approx 28m to public footpath BC31/5 at ST 7391 6188. 
6. BC31/7 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Combe Hay Lane at ST 7347 6176 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 317m to a junction with public footpath BC31/8 at ST 7379 6177. The footpath continues for approx 125m to a junction with public footpaths BC31/1, BC31/9 and BC31/10 at ST 7392 6178. The footpath continues for approx 143m to a junction with public footpath BA22/1 at ST 7406 6180. 
7. BC31/8 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Fosse Gardens at ST 7378 6178 and proceeding in a generally S direction for approx 1m to ST 7378 6178. The footpath turns in a generally WSW direction and continues for approx 1m to steps at ST 7378 6178. The footpath continues for approx 7m to ST 7378 6178. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 2m to ST 7378 6178. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 11m to where the steps end at ST 7379 6177. The footpath continues for approx 2m to ST 7379 6177. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 6m to a junction with public footpath BC31/7 at ST 7379 6177. The footpath continues for approx 7m to ST 7379 6176. The footpath turns in a generally SE direction and continues for approx 28m to Ridge Green Close at ST 7381 6175. 
8. BC31/9 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Ridge Green Close at ST 7388 6174 and proceeding in a N direction for approx 20m to ST 7388 6176. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 39m to ST 7391 6178. The footpath turns in a generally ENE direction and continues for approx 6m to a junction with public footpaths BC31/1, BC31/7 and BC31/10 at ST 7392 6178.
9. BC31/10 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpaths BC31/1, BC31/7 and BC31/9 at ST 7392 6178 and proceeding in a generally ESE direction for approx 30m to Ridge Green Close at ST 7394 6177. 
10. BC32/26 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BA11/3 at ST 7305 6258 and proceeding in a generally SE direction for approx 298m to a junction with public footpath BC32/22 at ST 7323 6234. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 164m to ST 7329 6219. The footpath turns in a generally SE direction and continues for approx 62m to ST 7333 6215. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 37m to Old Fosse Road at ST 7337 6215. 
11. BC32/27 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Old Fosse Road at ST 7338 6211 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 55m to Vernham Grove at ST 7334 6211. 
12. BC32/28 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Frome Road at ST 7389 6227 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 2m to ST 7389. The footpath turns in a generally NW direction and continues for approx 7m to ST 7338 6227. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 15m to Chelwood Drive at ST 7338 6229. 
13. BC32/29 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Wellsway at ST 7397 6227 and proceeding in a generally NW direction for approx 13m to ST 7396 6228. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 34m to Chelwood Drive at ST 7396 6232. 
14. BC32/30 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Wellsway at ST 7382 6212 and proceeding in a generally SSE direction for approx 120m to ST 7389 6203. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 4m to ST 7389 6202. The footpath turns in a generally SSW direction and continues for approx 10m to Lympsham Green at ST 7389 6201. 
15. BC41/1 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Cranmore Place at ST 7412 6186 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 32m to ST 7416 6186. The footpath turns in a generally NNE direction and continues for approx 5m to ST 7416 6186. The footpath continues for approx 24m to ST 7417 6188. The footpath continues for approx 168m to Frome Road at ST 7425 6203. 
16. BC41/2 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BA22/1 at ST 7436 6183 and proceeding in a generally N direction for approx 5m to barriers at ST 7436 6184. The footpath continues for approx 148m to Frome Road at ST 7435 6198. 
17. BC42/4 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Kempthorne Lane at ST 7403 6228 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 52m to a junction with public footpath BC42/5 at ST 7406 6232. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 1m to ST 7406 6232. The footpath turns in a generally NNW direction and continues for approx 2m to Wellsway at ST 7406 6232. 
18. BC42/5 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC42/4 at ST 7406 6232 and proceeding in a generally SE direction for approx 19m to Kempthorne Lane at ST 7408 6230. 
19. BC42/6 A public footpath commencing at bollards at a junction with Kempthorne Lane at ST 7408 6222 and proceeding in a generally SSE direction for approx 30m to the Cycle Path between Frome Road and Kempthorne Lane at ST 7409 6219. 
20. BC42/7 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Kempthorne Lane at ST 7405 6215 and proceeding in a generally SE direction for approx 12m to ST 7406 6215. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 10m to the Cycle Path between Frome Road and Kempthorne Lane at ST 7407 6215.

The order came into effect on 9th July 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, within forty two days from the date of this notice make an application to the High Court.
