NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDER
SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL CITY OF BATH DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT
BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL (No. 23 – ODD DOWN) 2025
The above Order, made on 11th December 2025, has been confirmed by Bath and North East Somerset Council without modification. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them the following footpaths:
1. BC32/6 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Edgeworth Road at ST 7326 6297 and proceeding in a generally ENE direction up steps for approx 1m to where the steps end at ST 7326 6297. The footpath continues for approx 24m to ST 7328 6298. The footpath turns in a generally SSE direction and continues for approx 70m to a junction with public footpath BC32/7 at ST 7332 6292. The footpath continues for approx 5m to public footpath BC32/9 at ST 7332 6292.
2. BC32/7 A public footpath commencing at steps at a junction with Edgeworth Road at ST 7326 6293 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 2m to where the steps end at ST 7326 6293. The footpath continues for approx 13m to steps at ST 7327 6293. The footpath continues up the steps for approx 2m to ST 7327 6293. The footpath continues for approx 10m to ST 7328 6293. The footpath continues for approx 39m to public footpath BC32/6 at ST 7332 6292.
3. BC32/8 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Edgeworth Road at ST 7325 6285 and proceeding in a generally ESE direction up steps for approx 2m to where the steps end at ST 7325 6285. The footpath continues for approx 23m to ST 7327 6284. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 31m to public footpath BC32/9 at ST 7330 6284. 
4. BC32/9 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Rush Hill (cul-de-sac) at ST 7315 6276 and proceeding in a generally ENE direction for approx 28m to ST 7317 6276. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 24m to a junction with public footpath BC32/11 at ST 7319 6276. The footpath continues for approx 10m to ST 7320 6276. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 9m to ST 7321 6277. The footpath turns in a generally ENE direction and continues for approx 66m to ST 7327 6279. The footpath turns in a generally NNE direction and continues for approx 60m to a junction with public footpath BC32/8 at ST 7330 6284. The footpath continues for approx 36m to ST 7332 6287. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 43m to ST 7332 6292. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 5m to a junction with public footpath BC32/6 at ST 7332 6292. The footpath continues for approx 11m to ST 7333 6292. BC32/10 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Rush Hill (cul-de-sac) at ST 7314 6275 and proceeding in a generally SSE direction for approx 31m to a junction with public footpath BC32/11 at ST 7316 6272. The footpath continues for approx 7m to ST 7316 6272. The footpath turns in a generally SSW direction and continues for approx 2m to steps at ST 7316 6272. The footpath continues for approx 2m up the steps to Rush Hill at ST 7316 6271.
6. BC32/11 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC32/10 at ST 7316 6272 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 34m to ST 7318 6274. The footpath turns in a generally NNE direction and continues for approx 15m to ST 7319 6276. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 8m to public footpath BC32/9 at ST 7319 6276.
7. BC32/12 A public footpath commencing on Somerdale View at ST 7333 6275 and proceeding in a generally ENE direction for approx 3m to ST 7333 6275. The footpath turns in a generally SSE direction and continues for approx 7m to a junction with public footpath BC32/13 at ST 7333 6275. The footpath continues for approx 14m to ST 7334 6273. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 17m to ST 7334 6272. The footpath turns in a generally ESE direction and continues for approx 14m to ST 7335 6271. BC32/14 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Corston View at ST 7337 6277 and proceeding in a generally N direction for approx 40m to a junction with public footpath BC32/13 at ST 7337 6281. The footpath continues for approx 4m to ST 7338 6281. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 12m to Corston View at ST 7338 6282.
10. BC32/15 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Corston View at ST 7346 6281 and proceeding in a generally NNE direction for approx 2m to ST 7346 6281. The footpath turns in a generally ESE direction and continues for approx 20m to ST 7348 6280. The footpath continues for approx 2m to public footpath BC32/15 at ST 7348 6280.
11. BC32/16 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC32/17 at ST 7348 6280 and proceeding in a generally NNW direction for approx 3m to a junction with public footpath BC32/15 at ST 7348 6280. The footpath continues for approx 41m to ST 7347 6284. The footpath continues for approx 21m to public footpath BC32/13 at ST 7346 6286.

BC32/17 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Corston View at ST 7344 6271 and proceeding in a generally NNE direction for approx 98m to a junction with public footpath BC32/16 at ST 7348 6280. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 88m to a junction with public footpath BC32/18 at ST 7355 6285. The footpath turns in a generally ENE direction and continues for approx 87m to ST 7363 6287. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 22m to a junction with public footpath BC32/13 at ST 7363 6290.
13. BC32/18 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Bloomfield Drive at ST 7356 6281 and proceeding in a generally NNW direction for approx 38m to public footpath BC32/17 at ST 7355 6285. 
14. BC32/19 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Frome Road at ST 7333 6261 and proceeding in a generally NNE direction for approx 26m to ST 7335 6264. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 47m to Corston View at ST 7335 6268.
15. BC32/20 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Frome Road at ST 7340 6258 and proceeding in a generally N direction for approx 46m to steps at ST 7341 6263. The footpath continues up the steps for approx 1m to Corston View at ST 7341 6263.
16. BC32/21 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Frome Road at ST 7352 6253 and proceeding in a generally NNE direction for approx 15m to Bloomfield Rise at ST 7352 6254.
17. BC32/22 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC32/26 at ST 7324 6234 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 26m to ST 7326 6236). The footpath turns in a generally ENE direction and continues for approx 23m to ST 7328 6237. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 32m to ST 7331 6236. The footpath turns in a generally ENE direction and continues for approx 36m to Old Fosse Road at ST 7335 6237.
18. BC32/23 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Old Fosse Road at ST 7336 6239 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 55m to Vernham Grove at ST 7341 6239.
19. BC32/24 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Vernham Grove at ST 7342 6238 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 29m to ST 7345 6238. The footpath continues for approx 6m to a junction with public footpath BC32/25 at ST 7346 6238. The footpath continues for approx 30m to ST 7350 6239. The footpath continues for approx 25m to ST 7351 6239. The footpath turns in a generally ESE direction for approx 29m to Odins Road at ST 7354 6237.
20. BC32/25 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Vernham Grove at ST 7344 6221 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 32m to ST 7347 6221. The footpath turns in a generally NNE direction and continues for approx 7m to ST 7348 6222. The footpath turns in a generally N direction and continues for approx 164m to ST 7346 6238. The footpath continues for approx 4m to public footpath BC32/24 at ST 7346 6238.

The order came into effect on 9th July 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, within forty two days from the date of this notice make an application to the High Court.
