NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDER
SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL
CITY OF BATH DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT
BATH AND NORTH EAST SOMERSET COUNCIL (No. 22 – ODD DOWN) 2025
The above Order, made on 11th December 2025, has been confirmed by Bath and North East Somerset Council without modification. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them the following footpaths:
1. BC22/1 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Ambleside Road at ST 7295 6298 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 32m to ST 7297 6300. The footpath turns in a generally SE direction for approx 30m to a junction with public footpath BC33/24 at ST 7299 6298.
2. BC22/2 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Rush Hill at ST 7279 6292 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 26m to Canons Close at ST 7281 6293.
3. BC22/3 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Padleigh Hill at ST 7254 6295 and proceeding in a generally SSE direction for approx 16m to a kissing gate at ST 7255 6294. The footpath continues for approx 13m to ST 7256 6293. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 28m to ST 7258 6295. The footpath turns in a generally ESE direction and continues for approx 4m to ST 7258 6294. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 38m to ST 7261 6297. The footpath turns in a generally E direction and continues for approx 9m to ST 7262 6296. The footpath turns in a generally SSE direction and continues for approx 172m to ST 7270 6282. The footpath turns in a generally SE direction and continues for approx 117m to ST 7280 6275. The footpath continues for approx 3m to a junction with public footpath BC22/4 at ST 7280 6275.
4. BC22/4 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BA11/4 at ST 7278 6271 and proceeding in a generally NNW direction for approx 14m to ST 7278 6273. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 32m to a junction with public footpath BC22/3 at ST 7280 6275. The footpath turns in a generally ENE direction and continues for approx 23m to ST 7282 6276. The footpath turns in a generally NNE direction and continues for approx 90m to a junction with public footpath BC22/5 at ST 7287 6283. The footpath continues for approx 24m to Rush Hill at ST 7287 6286.
5. BC22/5 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC22/4 at ST 7287 6284 and proceeding in a generally SE direction for approx 106m to a junction with public footpath BA11/3 at ST 7293 6275.
6. BC22/6 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BA11/3 at ST 7296 6272 and proceeding in a generally E direction for approx 145m to ST 7311 6272. The footpath turns in a generally NE direction and continues for approx 15m to Rush Hill at ST 7312 6273.
7. BC32/2 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Ambleside Road at ST 7300 6294 and proceeding in a generally S direction for approx 31m to ST 7299 6291. The footpath turns in a generally ESE direction and continues for approx 7m to a junction with public footpath BC32/3 at ST 7300 6290. The footpath continues for approx 20m to ST 7302 6289. The footpath turns in a generally SE direction and continues for approx 61m to a junction with public footpath BC32/4 at ST 7305 6284. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 14m to steps at ST 7305 6283. The footpath continues up the steps for approx 5m to Rush Hill at ST 7305 6282.
8. BC32/3 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Ambleside Road at ST 7301 6293 and proceeding in a generally S direction for approx 31m to a junction with public footpath BC32/2 at ST 7300 6290
9. BC32/4 A public footpath commencing at a junction with public footpath BC32/2 at ST 7305 6284 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 29m to Edgeworth Road at ST 7307 6286.
10. BC32/5 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Edgeworth Road at ST 7308 6287 and proceeding in a generally NE direction for approx 49m to Ambleside Road at ST 7312 6290.
11. BC33/23 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Kingsway at ST 7314 6304 and proceeding in a generally N direction for approx 26m through ST 7315 6306. The footpath continues for approx 16m to Stirtingale Road at ST 7315 6308.
12. BC33/24 A public footpath commencing at a junction with Georgian View at ST 7301 6300 and proceeding in a generally SW direction for approx 24m to ST 7299 6298. The footpath turns in a generally ESE direction and continues for approx 31m to ST 7302 6297. The footpath turns in a generally S direction and continues for approx 26m to Ambleside Road at ST 7302 6294.

The order came into effect on 9th July 2026 but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, within forty two days from the date of this notice make an application to the High Court.
