Sedgefield - Temporary Road Closure Due To Sewerage Infrastructure Renewal Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (The Leas, Sedgefield) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road at The Leas, Sedgefield. A 50 metre length from the front of Number 28 to the front of Number 43; a 35 metre length from the front of Number 39 The Leas to Number 104 The Meadows; a 102 metre length from the front of Number 41 to the front of Number 21 and a 62 metre length from the front of Number 104 The Meadows to the front of Number 94 The Meadows to enable sewerage infrastructure renewal works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure, no alternative diversion will be available, however, access will be maintained where possible. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Thursday 16/7/2026 and the duration of the works are anticipated to be 9 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
