What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U2267 BRINDELFIELD AND B5302 KING STREET, WIGTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable gas main replacement works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. U2267 Brindelfield, Wigton from its junction with the B5304, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 40m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2267 Brindelfield, Syke Road and B5304 South End.
Duration: From 13 July 2026 for approx. 15 days (Ref: TTROC/18641)
2. B5302 King Street, Wigton from its junction with the B5305 High Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 20m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the B5302 King Street and A596
Duration: From 10 August 2026 for approx. 18 days (Ref: TTROC/18642)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 13 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
