Carlisle - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Work
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. U1431 Port Road Business Park, Carlisle from its junction with the B5307 Port Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 100m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
Duration: From 13 July 2026 for approx. 3 days, between 1800 and 0300 hours, each day/night (Ref: TTROC/18649)
2. Aglionby Street, Carlisle, from its junction with Warwick Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 140m.
Alternative Route: via Warwick Road and Warwick Square.
Duration: From 20 July 2026 for approx. 5 days, between 0800 and 1600 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/19050)
3. C1036 Durdar to Stone Raise, from its junction with Newbiggin Road, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 1.1km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C1036, C1017, C1037 and Newbiggin Road.
Duration: From 20 July 2026 for approx. 12 days (Ref: TTROC/18925)
4. Brunton Avenue, Carlisle from its junction with Greystone Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 180m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Brunton Avenue, A69 Warwick Road and Greystone Road.
Duration: From 27 July 2026 for approx. 5 days, between 0800 and 1600 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/19051)
5. Norfolk Street, Denton Holme from its junction with Denton Street, extending in an overall westerly direction for approx. 180m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Norfolk Street, St James Road, Nelson Street and Denton Street.
Duration: From 10 August 2026 for approx. 5 days, between 0800 and 1600 hours, each day (Ref: TTROC/19052)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 13 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
