THE A5 TRUNK ROAD (CRICK TO ATHERSTONE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A5 Trunk Road, from Crick to Atherstone, in the Counties of West Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire to enable maintenance works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to close the laybys adjacent to –
(a) the northbound carriageway of the A5 from its roundabout junction with the A428, and the slip roads leading to and from the M1 at Junction 18 (Crick Interchange) at Crick, to its roundabout junction with the B4116 Watling Street, Harpers Lane and Carlyon Road (Witherley Island) near Witherley, Atherstone; and
(b) the southbound carriageway of the A5 from its junction with Witherley Island to its junction with Crick Interchange.
The closures are expected to start at 13:00 hours on Monday 27 July 2026 and continue for approximately six weeks. The Order will come into force on 20 July 2026.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works will be exempt from the closures.
