What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (FOOTPATH 6, BREDBURY AND ROMILEY NO.3) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Closure of that part of Footpath 6 Bredbury and Romiley, from Compstall Road for 60 metres in a northeasterly direction to the bottom of the slope, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said footpath. This Order is necessary to ensure public safety following the collapse and erosion of steps on the path. It is estimated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months.
A diversion will be provided via the path from the closure point in a south easterly direction to St Pauls Church, Compstall. This Order is to come into operation on 25 July 2026 and will have effect for six months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
