THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH ON DAIRY LANE HOUGHTON-LE-SPRING)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians along the southern footpath on Dairy Lane, from a distance of 25 metres east of the easternmost entrance to Houghton Kepier School, for a distance of 40 metres in an easterly direction. The Order is required to enable the installation of a temporary access to a development site on or near the footpath. The Order will come into operation on 23rd July 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 6 months, however it is estimated that the closures will only be in operation for 4 weeks from commencement of the works. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the above footpath (except personnel involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. A diversion for pedestrians will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
Dated 30th June 2026 Patrick Melia OBE, Chief Executive, Sunderland City Council, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA
