The A23 GLA Road (Brixton Hill, London Borough of Lambeth) (Temporary Prohibition of Stopping and Bus Lane Suspension) Order 2026
- Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.
- The purpose of the Order is to enable mobile crane works to take place on the A23 Brixton Hill.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from stopping in the Loading and Disabled Persons Vehicles Bay outside of Nos. 260 to 266 Brixton Hill.
The restrictions above will be effective at certain times between 7:00 AM on 13th July 2026 and 7:00 PM on 24th July 2026, or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
The Order will also:
(1) allow all vehicles to use the southbound bus lane on the A23 Brixton Hill between its junctions with Brixton Hill Place and Holmewood Road;
(2) close the western footway of the A23 Brixton Hill between the extended common boundary of Nos. 272 and 274 Brixton Hill and the extended common boundary of Nos. 262 and 264 Brixton Hill. Pedestrians will be diverted to the eastern footway.
The restrictions above will be effective at certain times between 10:00 PM on 13th July 2026 and 3:00 AM on 14th July 2026 and between 10:00 PM on 20th July 2026 and 3:00 AM on 21st July 2026, or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:
(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;
(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.
