(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 23 and Footpath 24, Great Dunmow in the District of Uttlesford as below.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 5 July 2026 to 5 January 2027 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public, while development construction takes place.
The Order will come into effect on 5 July 2026 may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Duton Hill, Tilty) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Duton Hill, Tilty in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Duton Hill Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410271767 – Affinity Water Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water mains repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water Limited.
An alternative route is available via B1051, B184, Duck Street, Dunmow Road, Duton Hill, Cherry Street, Stanbrook Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(High Street, Hempstead) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Street, Hempstead in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 150m north east of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th July 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG9PG19M – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.
An alternative route is available via B1054, B1057, B1053 and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Pound Lane, Ugley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Pound Lane, Ugley in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 310m north west of its junction with Snakes Lane for a distance of approximately 60m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410296901 – Affinity Water Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while fire hydrant repair and replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water Limited.
An alternative route is available via B1383, Alsa Street, Snakes Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Tot Lane, Birchanger) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Tot Lane, Birchanger in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 250m south east then north east of its junction with Birchanger Lane for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410321958 – Affinity Water Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while chamber repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water Limited.
An alternative route is available via Forest Hall Road, B1383, Birchanger Lane, Tot Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd July 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Road, Great Hallingbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Great Hallingbury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 230m south west of its junction with Church Lane for a distance of approximately 40m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th July 2026 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410259849 – Affinity Water Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Affinity Water Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Church Road, A1060, B183, B1256 and vice versa (with access only into Church Road, Bedlars Green and Bedlars Green Road).
The Order came into effect on 18th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(High Easter Road, Barnston/High Easter Road – Bishops Green – ZC10104, High Easter)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
- To temporarily close that length of High Easter Road, Barnston/High Easter Road – Bishops Green – ZC10104, High Easter in the District of Uttlesford, from the junction of Chelmsford Road to the junction of Proverbs Green Road a distance of approximately 2460m.
- To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
“The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 11th July 2026 for 30 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2397272 & EP201EH2397272A – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage improvement & investigation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via B1008, Main Road, Penden Hill, Pleshey Road, The Street, Bury Road, Stagden Cross Road, Rehobeth Street, Barnston Road, High Easter Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 18th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
