Braintree District - Multiple Traffic Notices: Waiting Restrictions, Zebra Crossing & Footpath Closure
What is happening?
Essex County Council
(Braintree District) Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Amendment No.39) Order 202*.
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council proposes to make the above Order under Sections, 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1), 4(2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 49, 53 and Part III and IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
1. To Implement: ‘No Waiting at Any Time Restriction in the District of Braintree.

Notice is hereby given that under Sections 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the Essex County Council proposes to install the following Zebra Crossing:
2. To Implement a ‘Zebra Crossing’
Location: Panfield Lane, District of Braintree
(i) The Centre line of the crossing will be located approximately 6.5 metres south of Flanders Close.
(ii) The width of the crossing between give way’ lines will be approximately 6 metres.
(iii) The width of the dropped kerbs will be approximately 2 metres, either side of the road.
(iv) Crossing Zigzags: Approximately 17.5 metres either side of the Crossing.

Objections: Anyone who wishes to object to the proposed scheme should send the grounds for their objection to the address above or via e-mail to TrafficRegulation.Order@essexhighways.org quoting reference TRAF8364 by 17 July 2026.
(Footpath 4 (Threadkrells Footbridge), Feering) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 4, Feering in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Coggeshall Road Southwest to its junction with Footpath 22 approximately 1,000 metres.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 1 July 2026 to 30 July 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the refurbishment of Threadkrells footbridge (on Footpath 4) is undertaken.
Alternative route: No suitable diversion route available.
The Order will come into effect on 01 July 2026 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
