(as Amended) - SECTION 14(1)

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF ST. HELENS

(ABBEY ROAD, RAINFORD/WINDLE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING

AND PEDESTRIANS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the St. Helens Borough Council propose not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle or pedestrian to proceed in either direction along Abbey Road above the A580 East Lancashire Road, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.

The Order will come into force on Monday 27th July, 2026, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works, which is expected to be 10 days. The alternative route will be via Hard Lane, Chaucer Road, Walton Road, A570 Rainford Road, A570 Rainford Bypass, B5201 Crank Road and vice versa.

The reason for making this Order is to facilitate repairs to the bridge.
