NOTICE OF PROPOSED CROSSINGS
TEMPLE PARK ROAD/HARTON LANE, SOUTH SHIELDS 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that South Tyneside Council, proposes under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to
intend to establish a signal-controlled crossing facility, which may operate as either a Puffin (pedestrian) crossing or a Toucan
(joint pedestrian and cyclist) crossing on Harton Lane. In addition to intending to establish a priority-controlled crossing facility,
which may operate as either a Zebra pedestrian crossing or a Parallel pedestrian and cyclist crossing on Harton Lane and Temple Park Road.

Associated zig-zag markings on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times will be marked either side. Details of these proposals may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Council’s Legal Services Section at the address below.

If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them
in writing at the address below (addressed for the attention of Road Safety Team / ref TRS03) by 13 th July 2026. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
