What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
NOTICE OF PROPOSED TOUCAN CROSSING,
KING GEORGE ROAD, SOUTH SHIELDS 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that South Tyneside Council, proposes under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to
install a new toucan crossing in the place described in schedule 1 below.

New Toucan Crossing
King George Road, South
Shields
The centre of the crossing is to be
located 11m north of its junction
with Park Avenue.
Associated zig-zag markings on which vehicles would be prohibited from stopping at all times will be marked either side of the crossing extending up to 2.3m northwards and 13.1m southwards.
Details of these proposals may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Council’s Legal Services Section at the address below.
If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing at the address below (addressed for the attention of Road Safety Team / ref TRS06) by 13 th July 2026. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
