NOTICE OF TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC – ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – ASHLEY ROAD, MILLINGTON AND ROSTHERNE

Notice is hereby given that the Cheshire East Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers has made an order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic.

Prohibition of traffic – Ashley Road, Millington and Rostherne – From Railway bridge to the junction of Cow Lane.

The alternative route will be via Ashley Road, Mereside Road, Manchester Road, Manchester Road Roundabout, King Edward Road, Adams Hill, Brook Street, Hollow Lane, Mobberley Road, Parkgate Lane, Knutsford Road, Town Lane, Hall Lane, Newton Hall Lane, Burleyhurst Lane, Altrincham Road, Altrincham Road Roundabout, Wilmslow Road, Mill Lane, Castle Mill Lane, Tanyard Lane, Back Lane and vice versa which is considered the most suitable route.

This order will come into operation on Tuesday 30th June 2026 and will continue in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Wednesday 8th July 2026.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS – PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 6, 7 AND 9 IN THE PARISH OF AGDEN AND PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 7, 8, 9, 12 AND 14 IN THE PARISH OF LITTLE BOLLINGTON TEMPORARY – Restriction of Pedestrians Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by sub-section 15 (5) of the aforementioned Section 15 has approved the Order being extended and continuing in force until 6th July 2028.

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following:

That length of Public Footpath No. 6 Agden (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 20) which commences at OS grid reference (OSGR) SJ 7169 8686 and runs in a generally northeast direction for approx. 913 m. to OSGR SJ 7232 8767.

That length of Public Footpath No. 9 Little Bollington (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 9) which commences at OSGR SJ 7232 8767 and runs in a generally northeast direction for approx. 193 m. to OSGR SJ 7227 8752.

That length of Public Footpath No. 7 Little Bollington (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 7) which commences at OSGR SJ 7227 8752 and runs in a generally northeast direction for approx. 154 m. to the county border at OSGR SJ 7232 7665.

That length of Public Footpath No. 7 Agden (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 21) which commences at OSGR SJ 7210 8705 and runs in a generally northeast to southeast direction for approx. 473 m. to OSGR SJ 7243 8701.

That length of Public Footpath No. 7 Little Bollington (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 7) which commences at OSGR SJ 7243 8701 and runs in a generally east-northeast direction for approx. 224 m. to OSGR SJ 7264 8708.

That length of Public Footpath No. 8 Little Bollington (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 8) which commences at OSGR SJ 7222 8742 and runs in a generally southeast direction for approx. 656 m. to OSGR SJ 7275 8706.

That length of Public Footpath No. 9 Agden (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 22) which commences at OSGR SJ 7158 8670 and runs in a generally east direction for approx. 755 m. to OSGR SJ 7231 8660.

That length of Public Footpath No. 12 Little Bollington (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 12) which commences at OSGR SJ 7231 8660 and runs in a generally northeast direction for approx. 930 m. to OSGR SJ 7279 8729.

That length of Public Footpath No. 14 Little Bollington (Now known as Little Bollington and Agden No. 14) which commences at OSGR SJ 7279 8729 and runs in a generally northeast direction for approx. 188 m. to the county border at OSGR SJ 7285 8746.

The closure is necessary to protect the public from danger posed by the canal breach.
