NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Sale Lane, Tyldesley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Sale Lane, Tyldesley on 20th July 2026 to 27th July 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: Hough Lane – Hen Fold Road – Church Road – Manchester Road – Chaddock Lane – East Lancashire Road.
The Order is necessary to allow new gas connection.
Wigan Road, Atherton – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Wigan Road, Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 21st July 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Wigan Road, Atherton on 21st July 2026 between the hours of 19:00pm and 22:00 only.
The alternative route for traffic is: Leigh Road – Lovers Lane – Wigan Road.
The Order is necessary to allow frame and cover.
Queensway, Leigh – Experimental Prohibition of Driving

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Traffic Management Act 2004, of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, has made the Wigan Borough (Queensway, Leigh) (Prohibition of Driving) (Experimental) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 13th July 2026.
The effect of the Order is to prohibit any person, except permit holders, driving on:
- Queensway, Leigh from its junction with Regent Drive for a distance of 127 metres in a northeasterly direction during the periods of Monday to Friday from 8:15am to 9:15am and from 2:45pm to 3:45pm.
A copy of the Order, the relevant map and a statement of reasons for making the order, may be requested by emailing libby.gill@wigan.gov.uk
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN Wigan Borough Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person may within the period of six months from the coming into force of this Order object to the making of the Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation. Any such objections to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN quoting reference RD/LS/SEC/7648180 or emailed to the above email address not later than 14th January 2027.
