Restriction of Waiting and Loading

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the provisions of Sections 14(1)(b), 22C and 22D of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 that Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council intend to make an Order the effect of which will prohibit waiting and loading on lengths of road in Chester City centre as detailed below because of the likelihood of danger to the public.

The Order will prohibit all waiting and loading on the following lengths of road at dates and times advertised on site at least seven days in advance when large crowds are anticipated, including when there are events or entertainments in Chester City centre, or without this advanced notice under the instruction of a Senior Police Officer or a person authorised or required to act on behalf of a constable.

Northgate Street (from Hunter Street to Eastgate Street)

St Werburgh Street (complete length)

Eastgate Street (complete length)

Foregate Street (from The Eastgate to Frodsham Street)

St John Street (from Foregate Street to a point 35m south of Foregate Street)

Bridge Street (from a point 6 metres north of Feathers Lane to Watergate Street)

Watergate Street (from Bridge Street to Nicholas Street)

The Order will come into force on 1st July 2026 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months.

Pedestrian access to all other premises situated on or adjacent to the roads will be maintained at all times.

TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER

Notice is hereby given that on the 17th of June 2026 Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council made the following Traffic Regulation Orders in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will come into operation on the 26th of June 2026.

CHESHIRE WEST AND CHESTER BOROUGH COUNCIL

(LIGHTFOOT STREET, CHESTER) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2025

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit waiting on the following lengths of road:

Introduce:

  • Lightfoot Street (south west side) – from a point 82 metres south-east of the rear of footway of Hoole Road to a point 114 metres south-east of the rear of footway of Hoole Road.

Revoke:

  • Lightfoot Street (north east side) – from a point 28 metres south-east of the rear of footway of Hoole Road to a point 39 metres south-east of the rear of footway of Hoole Road.
  • Lightfoot Street (south west side) – from a point 27 metres south-east of the junction with Thomas Brassey Close to a point 39 metres south-east of Thomas Brassey Close.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within six weeks from the 23rd of June 2026 make application to the High Court for this purpose.
