(LOST MINDS FESTIVAL)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 (1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The effect is to prohibit all vehicular traffic to proceed on the lengths of highway set out in;
a. Schedule 1, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the lengths of highway set out in, b. Schedule 2 to this Notice, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from turning right on the lengths of highways set out in,
c. Schedule 3, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from stopping at any time in the lengths of highways set out in,
d. Schedule 4 and to suspend the existing restrictions set out in Schedule 5.
3. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
4. The Order is required in connection with Lost Minds Festival ("the Event) and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the public.
5. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and pedestrians engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
6. The Order will come into operation on 8:00pm, 8th July 2026 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, for up to 12:00am, 12th July or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
SCHEDULE 1 (ROAD CLOSURES FOR VEHICLES)
(i) B1318 Claremont Road, from Queen Victoria Road to B1318 Barras Bridge, and.
(ii) Park Terrace, from B1318 Claremont Road north eastwards for 50 metres.
SCHEDULE 2 (ROAD CLOSURES FOR PEDESTRIANS)
(i) B1318 Claremont Road Over Bridge, for its entire length.
SCHEDULE 3 (NO RIGHT TURN)
(i) From B1318 Great North Road into Claremont Road
SCHEDULE 4 (NO STOPPING AT ANY TIME)
(i) B1318 Claremont Road Over Bridge, both sides, for its entire length,
(ii) A167 off slip to Claremont Road, both sides, for its entire length,
(iii) A167 on slip from Claremont Road, both sides, for its entire length,
(iv) B1318 Claremont Road, both sides, from Queen Victoria Road, north westwards for 300 metres,
(v) B1318 Claremont Road Over Bridge, north side, from a point 300 metres northwest of Queen Victoria Road north westwards for 700 metres, and
(vi) Queen Victoria Road, both sides, from B1318 Claremont Road southwards for 40 metres.
SCHEDULE 5 (RESTRICTIONS SUSPENDED)
(i) Prohibition of right-hand turns - from Percy Street into Gallowgate.
