What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (REDDING BROW, ALLITHWAITE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of Redding Brow, Allithwaite, from a point approx. 240 metres west of its junction with Boarbank Lane, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 155 metres.

A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Redding Brow, Boarbank Lane, Green Lane, Cartmel Road, C5040, Headless Cross and the U5164.

The Order will come into operation on 13th July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 day, then the closure will be lifted, and the restriction will come back into place on the 15th July 2026 for 1 day, then the closure will be lifted, and the restriction will come back into place on the 20th July 2026 for 1 day, only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
