Hart - Permanent 40 mph & 50 mph Speed Limit Changes
What is happening?
TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS - 40 AND 50 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON B3016 ODIHAM ROAD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council ("the Council") proposes to make the above-mentioned Order, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 82, 84 and 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.
GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: will be to:
(i) Implement a 40mph speed limit (previously 50mph) on B3016 Odiham Road at Phoenix Green between its junction with the A30 London Road and a point 2,190 metres south thereof.
(ii) Implement a 50mph speed limit (previously National Speed Limit) on B3016 Odiham Road between a point 2,190 metres south of its junction with A30 London Road and its junction with A287 Farnham Road, an approximate distance of 2,390 metres.
This order will revoke and re-instate 'The Hampshire (Various Roads, Hartley Wintney to Hook) (Restricted Road, 30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2016' with no change of substance, save for the 40 and 50 miles per hour limits, described above, and the revocation of schedule I restricted roads from the original 2016 order. However, these restricted roads contained within schedule I will remain by virtue of section 82(1)(a) of the Act, 30 miles per hour with no requirement for an Order.

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 - 17.15; Fridays 8.30 - 16.45)

OBJECTIONS AND OTHER REPRESENTATIONS: All objections/other representations in respect of this proposal must be made in writing to The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD or email public.notices@hants.gov.uk quoting reference: C886/SV, by Friday 17th July 2026. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any statement you make to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.
