What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

40MPH Speed Limit in B2131 Petworth Road and B2131 Rodgate Lane in the Town of Haslemere and the Parish of Chiddingfold

Under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers on 23 June 2026 Surrey County Council made: – 1. “The Surrey County Council (B2131 Petworth Road, Haslemere (40MPH Speed Limit) Order 2001) Amendment Order 2026”, which will come into force on 27 June 2026; the effect of which will be to impose a maximum speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. This required the amendment of “The Surrey County Council (B2131 Petworth Road, Haslemere (40MPH Speed Limit) Order 2001”. The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011. 2. “The Surrey County Council B2133 Loxwood Road and D179 Rosemary Lane, Alfold (20MPH and 30MPH Speed Limit) (Amendment and Part-Revocation)(No.2) Order 2026”, which will come into force on 27 June 2026; the effect of which will be to make certain drafting amendments to “The Surrey County Council B2133 Loxwood Road and D179 Rosemary Lane, Alfold (20MPH and 30MPH Speed Limit) (Amendment and Part- Revocation) Order 2025” which will not affect the operation of the speed limits imposed.

A copy of this Notice together with plans showing the lengths of road to which the Orders relate, a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Orders, a copy of the made Orders and the amended Orders, may be viewed during normal opening hours at: –

(1) Haslemere Library, 91 Wey Hill, Haslemere, Surrey GU27 1HP.
(2) Cranleigh Library, High Street, Cranleigh, Surrey GU6 8AE
(3) Godalming Library, Bridge Street, Godalming, Surrey GU7 1HT.
(4) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ.

THE SCHEDULE
a) That length of B2131 Petworth Road, Haslemere that extends from a point 90m south-east of the south-eastern boundary of D157 Killinghurst Lane, to its junction with B2131 Rodgate Lane.
b) That length of B2131 Rodgate Lane, Haslemere that extends from its junction with B2131 Petworth Road, to a point 30m west of its junction with A283 Petworth Road.
