Gilmerton Dykes Street Area - Temporary Traffic Restrictions

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(GILMERTON DYKES STREET AREA) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026 - TEMP/26/91

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing, no person shall:

(a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of the roads specified in Schedule 1, where prohibitions will apply to roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated, provided that no more than one of the measures in Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 & Phase 4 described in Schedule 1 be enacted at the same time; &

(b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of both sides of the roads specified in Schedule 2, where prohibitions will apply to roads in their entirety unless otherwise stated. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of road described in Schedule 2. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures in Schedule 1 will be by way of:

Phase 1, (i) Hyvot Park – Moredun Dykes Road & Gilmerton Dykes Street; & (ii) Moredun Dykes Road – Hyvot Terrace, Hyvot Mill Drive & Gilmerton Dykes Street;

Phase 2 (i) Hyvot Mill Drive – Hyvot Terrace, Moredun Dykes Road & Gilmerton Dykes Street; (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Drive (1) – Gilmerton Dykes Avenue & Gilmerton Dykes Street; & (2) Gilmerton Dykes View, Gilmerton Dykes Avenue & Gilmerton Dykes Street;

Phase 3 (i) Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (East Leg) – Gilmerton Dykes Place, Gilmerton Dykes Grove, Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (West Leg) & Gilmerton Dykes Street; & (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Avenue (1) – Gilmerton Dykes Drive & Gilmerton Dykes Street; & (2) – Gilmerton Dykes View, Gilmerton Dykes Drive & Gilmerton Dykes Street;

Phase 4 (i) Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (West Leg) - Gilmerton Dykes Grove, Gilmerton Dykes Place, Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (East Leg) & Gilmerton Dykes Street; (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Street (1) – Drum Street, Gilmerton Road, Mount Vernon Road & Lasswade Road; & (2) – Drum Street, Gilmerton Station Road & Lasswade Road; (iii) Newtoft Street (1) – Drum Street, Gilmerton Road, Mount Vernon Road & Lasswade Road; (2) – Drum Street, Gilmerton Station Road & Lasswade Road; & (3) – Ravenscroft Place, Ravenscroft Street & Drum Street.

The Order shall have effect from 28/06/26 to 30/08/26.

Schedule 1 Road Closures: Phase 1, (i) Hyvot Park; (ii) Moredun Dykes Road, from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards to the extended north kerbline of Hyvot Terrace; Phase 2, (i) Hyvot Mill Drive, from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards to the extended south kerbline of Hyvot Terrace; (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Drive, (1) from the extended north kerbline Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards to the extended south kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Avenue; & (2) from the extended south kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, southwards to the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes View; Phase 3, (i) Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (East Leg), from the extended north-east kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, north-eastwards to the extended south kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Place; (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Avenue, (1) from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards then eastwards to the extended west kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Drive; & (2) from the extended south kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, southwards to the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes View; & Phase 4, (i) Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (West Leg), from the extended north-west kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, north-westwards to the extended south-east kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Grove; (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Street; & (iii) Newtoft Street.

Schedule 2 Prohibition of Waiting, Loading & Unloading: (i) Gilmerton Dykes Avenue (1) from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards for 50m; & (2) from the extended south kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, southwards for 50m; (ii) Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (East Leg), from the extended north-east kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, north-eastwards for 50m; (iii) Gilmerton Dykes Crescent (West Leg), from the extended north-west kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, north-westwards for 50m; (iv) Gilmerton Dykes Drive (1) from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards for 50m; & (2) from the extended south kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, southwards for 50m; (v) Gilmerton Dykes Street; (vi) Hyvot Mill Drive, from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards for 50m; (vii) Hyvot Park; (viii) Moredun Dykes Road, from the extended north kerbline of Gilmerton Dykes Street, northwards for 50m; & (ix) Newtoft Street.
