Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2027 AND U2201 NEAR COCKERMOUTH, U2091 DEARHAM, C2031 AND C2032 DEANSCALES, AND C2022 NEAR CROSBY) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. C2027 near Cockermouth, from a point approx. 650m east of its junction with the U2195, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 150m; and

2. U2201 near Cockermouth, from its junction with the C2027, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 160m.

Alternative Route for 1 and 2 above: via the unrestricted section of the C2027, U2201, U2200, U2199, B5289, B5292, Lorton Road, Victoria Road, Lorton Street, Lamplugh Road, and A5086.

Duration: From 14 July 2026 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/I8743)

3. U2091 The Went, Dearham, from its junction with Tentside Close, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 890m to its junction with the C2008 Main Street.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2091, The Went, A594 Maryport Road, C2001 Central Road, and the C2008 Main Street.

Duration: From 20 July 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/I8485)

4. C2032 Deanscales, from its junction with the A5086, extending in an overall north westerly direction for approx. 840m; and

5. C2031 Deanscales, from its junction with the C2032, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 90m.

Alternative Route for 4 and 5 above: via the unrestricted sections of the C2031, C2036, C2027 and A5086.

Duration: From 21 July 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/I8837)

6. C2022 near Crosby, from its junction with the C2023, extending in an overall westerly direction for approx. 2.8km to its junction with the B5300.

Alternative Route: via the B5300, C2008, A596, and C2023.

Duration: From 23 July 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/I8938)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 14 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
