What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Birmingham Road, Great Barr) (Temporary Bus Lane Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit buses from proceeding along the bus lane between the gable ends of property numbers 359 and 373, Birmingham Road, Great Barr. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 06/07/2026 (15:30) effective from 06/07/2026 (09:30). Purpose – To facilitate access to install a replacement variable message sign by Swarco UK and Ireland Limited on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Anne Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Anne Road, Smethwick which will be closed from a point 225 metres from the junction of Booth Street for 75 metres (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits).

A traffic diversion route will be signed via Woodburn Road, Foundry Lane, Booth Street and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 27/08/2026 effective from 08/07/2026 (24hr). Purpose – To facilitate access for a joint bay excavation and associated high voltage cable jointing by Excalon on behalf of National Grid Electricity Distribution.
