What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Bryans Leap East, Burnopfield) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 73 metre length of Bryans Leap East, Burnopfield from the front of Number 19 to the front of Number 12 Bryans Leap to enable gas main replacement works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure any alternative diversion for pedestrians will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 13/7/2026 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 6 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
