THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF DURHAM
(PELAW LEAZES LANE, DURHAM CITY) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
(DURHAM CITY AND SURROUNDING AREA, MANDATORY CYCLE LANE) ORDER 2026
The Council proposes to make the above Orders under Sections 84 and 87 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will regulate the restrictions below which were introduced during the covid pandemic on Pelaw Leazes Lane, Durham City.
20 mph speed limit – Pelaw Leazes Lane, in its entirety, from its junctions with A690 from Leazes Road/School of Education entrance to its junctions with Public Footpath 78 Durham City riverside footpath and A690 Leazes Road.
Mandatory Cycle Lane Pelaw Leazes Lane
- (12.a) a 27 metre length from 7 metres south west of the centre line junction to the entrance to Carter House in a south westerly direction.
- a 40 metre length of the western leg that extends westerly from 6 metres west of the apex of the junction with (12.a)
A copy of the draft Orders and supporting documents may be inspected at Durham Clayport Library during normal opening hours and via the council’s website.
