What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a) AND (7)

THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (COLSTERWORTH TO NORTH WITHAM LINCOLNSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A1 Trunk Road, between Colsterworth and North Witham, in the County of Lincolnshire, to allow cabling, excavation and resurfacing works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to –
(1) prohibit vehicles from –
(a) leaving the northbound carriageway of the A1 at its junction with the link road leading to the B6403 Bridge End, at Colsterworth;

(b) leave the southbound carriageway of the A1 at its junction with the link road leading to the A151, at Colsterworth; and

(c) entering the northbound carriageway of the A1 at its junction with the slip road leading from the roundabout junction with the A151 and Bourne Road, at Colsterworth;

(2) close the laybys adjacent to –
(a) the southbound carriageway of the A1, approximately 464 metres northwest of its junction with Honey Pot Lane, at Colsterworth;

(b) the southbound carriageway of the A1, approximately 276 metres southeast of its junction with Honey Pot Lane, at Colsterworth; and

(c) the northbound carriageway of the A1, approximately 200 metres northwest of its junction with the B6403 High Dike, at North Witham; and

(3) close the gap in the central reservation of the A1, approximately 1068 metres north of its junction with the B6403 High Dike, at North Witham. The work will be carried out overnight only between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is expected to start on Monday 20 July 2026 and continue for approximately six weeks. The Order will come into force on 13 July 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures and prohibition.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A1 will be signed.
