Reason for Proposal:
In accordance with the requirement of a planning condition for the development by Bellway Homes, Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce a restricted parking zone on various roads at Mason Road and surrounding residential streets. Effect of the Proposal:
1. To introduce a signed only “No waiting at any time” throughout the zone except within signed and marked parking places. The restricted parking zone will apply to the full extent of each road specified in the Schedule below.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE A 20MPH ZONE ON SOME ROADS IN SHORTSTOWN
Reason for Proposal:
A planning condition associated with the Bellway Homes development at Cardington, Shortstown requires a 20mph speed limit on Mason Road and surrounding residential streets. The proposed 20mph speed limit is intended to provide a safer road network for all highway users, including motor cyclists, pedal cyclists, and pedestrians.
Effect of the Order:
1. To introduce a 20mph zone covering the entire length of each of the following roads in Shortstown:-

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 11th June 2026 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:Effect of the Order:
1. To revoke parts of the bus lane in the following locations:
Ampthill Road, Bedford (Northbound)
(i) From a point approx. 11 metres north of the projected centre of the Technology House south access road and extending southwards for approx. 36.2 metres.
(ii) From a point approx. 33.9 metres south of the projected centre of the access road leading to the supermarket service yard and extending northwards for approx. 45.6 metres.
(iii) From a point approx. 7 metres north of the projected centre of the road to the Osborne Court access road and extending southwards for approx. 28.1 metres.
(iv) From a point approx. 6.4 metres north of the projected centre of Victoria Road and extending southwards for approx. 48.2 metres.
(v) From a point approx. 15.8 metres south of the projected centre of Ombersley Road and extending northwards for approx. 21.6 metres.
(vi) From a point approx. 6.5 metres south of the projected centre of the hospital access road and extending southwards for approx. 7 metres.
2. To introduce “No Waiting at Any Time” and “No Loading at Any Time” restrictions in the following locations: Ampthill Road, Bedford
(i) From a point approx. 7.7 metres north east of the projected centre of Sexton Avenue and extending northwards for approx. 125 metres.
(ii) From a point approx. 4.7 metres north west of the projected centre of the Technology House south access road and extending northwards for approx.159.5 metres.
(iii) On the southern kerb of the Technology House north access road starting from the projected centre of the junction with Ampthill Road and extending westwards for approx. 13.7 metres
(iv) From a point approx.12.6 metres north west of the projected centre of the Technology House north access road and extending northwards for approx. 79.1 metres.
3. To introduce “No Waiting at Any Time” restrictions in the following location Ampthill Road, Bedford
(i) On the southern kerb of the junction of the access road leading to the supermarket service yard (starting from end of existing double yellow lines), extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 6.3 metres.
4. To introduce “No Loading at Any Time” restrictions in the following locations Ampthill Road, Bedford
(i) From a point approx. 6.5 metres west of the projected centre of Westville Road and extending southwards for approx. 164.1 metres.
(ii) From a point approx. 7.5 metres west of the projected centre of the Osborne Court access road and extending southwards for approx. 252.8 metres.
(iii) From the projected centre of the Victoria Road junction and extending southwards for approx. 61.7 metres
(iv) From the projected centre of the Victoria Road junction and extending northwards for approx. 57.9 metres.
(v) From the projected centre of the Ombersley Road junction and extending southwards for a length of 15.5 metres.
(vi) From the projected centre of the Ombersley Road junction and extending northwards for approx. 85.2 metres
Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 29th June 2026 or as soon as practicable after this date.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSES TO INTRODUCE NEW WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON VARIOUS ROADS IN THE DE PARYS WARD, BEDFORD
Reason for Proposal:
Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce new waiting restrictions in various roads within the De Parys Ward, Bedford. These restrictions are to improve Highway Safety and to maintain junction visibility and safety for drivers and pedestrians alike.
Effect of the Order:
1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions on the following lengths of roads:
A Abrahams Close, Bedford From the projected centre line on its eastern kerb extending in a northerly direction and continuing around the extent of Abrahams Close, no waiting 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
B Appledore Road, Bedford
(i) On its eastern kerb, adjacent to properties 33 and 17, new
(ii) no waiting at any time, extending for a distance of approx. 8.5 metres. On its western kerb, extending from existing no waiting at any time restriction, for a distance of approx. 24 metres in a northerly direction.
C Park Avenue, Bedford
(i) From existing no waiting at any time restrictions, for a distance of approx. 7.2 metres in a north westerly direction.
D Caves Lane, Bedford Extending in a southerly direction for approx. 7.5 metres from the existing no waiting at any time restriction.
E Mallard Hill, Bedford
(i) From the projected centre of Rooksmead and Mallard Hill, on its eastern kerb for a distance of approx. 11 metres in an easterly direction.
(ii) From the projected centre of Rooksmead with Mallard Hill, on its western kerb, for a distance of approx. 50 metres in a westerly direction.
(iii) From the projected boundary line of 124 Mallard Hill, on its western kerb, extending for a distance of approx. 45 metres in a north westerly direction.
(iv) From the projected boundary line of 124 Mallard Hill, on its eastern kerb, extending for a distance of approx. 45 metres in a westerly direction.
