(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF
TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City
Council propose to make an Order under Section 14(1)(a)
of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as substituted by
the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991,
prohibiting vehicles from proceeding on the following
stretches of road:
l Queen Square closed in its entirety. It is anticipated that
the closure will operate from 4 July 2026 until
29 December 2027.
l Lichfield Street closed from its junction with
Queen Square to its junction with Princess Street and
Princess Square. Cyclists to dismount and use the
footway. It is anticipated that the closure will operate
from 4 July 2026 until 29 December 2027.
l Exchange Street closed at its junction with
Queen Square. Access/egress to be maintained. It is
anticipated that the closure will operate from
27 July 2026 until 16 December 2027.
l Lich Gates closed at its junction with Queen Square.
Access/egress to be maintained. It is anticipated that
the closure will operate from 27 July 2026 until
16 December 2027.
The Order may operate for a maximum period of eighteen
months, but it is anticipated that the works will be
undertaken between the dates detailed above.
The Order is required to facilitate resurfacing of
Queen Square and Lichfield Street as part of the Public
Realm works being undertaken by the City of
Wolverhampton Council.
