What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS ARMED FORCES DAY, COVENTRY 2026

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding along Bayley Lane, Hay Lane, Cuckoo Lane, and Pepper Lane in both directions.

The Order will prohibit vehicles to such an extent and at such time as indicated signs on site. Diversion routes for the closures will be as signed on site.

The Order will come into effect from 00:00 hours on Saturday 27th June 2026 and is required to enable the safe operation of the parade.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months, but it is expected that the road will be re-opened at 13:00 hours on Saturday 27th June 2026 when safe to do so, as soon as the parade has passed by.

Exemptions will be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the event;

(d) Pedestrian access to all properties within the restriction and access through the restriction maintained along defined routes throughout the period of the closure

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS HAREWOOD ROAD – PLAYING OUT, COVENTRY 2026

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding along Harewood Road in both directions from No. 13 to No. 42.

The Order will prohibit vehicles to such an extent and at such time as indicated signs on site. Diversion routes for the closure will be as signed on site.

The Order will come into effect from 12:00 hours on Saturday 28th June 2026 and is required to enable the safe operation of the charity event.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months, but it is expected that the road will be re-opened at 15:00 hours on Saturday 28th June 2026 when safe to do so, as soon as the parade has passed by.

Exemptions will be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the event;

TEMPORARY PARKING & TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS HAWKES MILL LANE, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), has made a temporary Order, the effect of the Order will be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering, proceeding along Hawkes Mill Lane from its junction with Washbrook Lane to its junction with Wall Hill Road.

The Order will come into effect at 09:00 hours on Wednesday, 1 July 2026 and is required to enable pole replacement and associated works on Hawkes Mill Lane to take place safely.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works will be completed by 1 July 2026.

Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected by the closure will be sign posted on site.

Exemptions will be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;

(d) reasonable local vehicular access to Hawkes Mill Lane.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS DONNINGTON AVENUE, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on Donnington Avenue for its full length.

The Order would come into effect at 07.00 hours on Monday 6th July 2026 and is required for lining works and associated works on the said road.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by Friday 10th July 2026.

The roads will be closed or restricted on a number of occasions for various durations, to such an extent as when prescribed signs are displayed.

Diversion(s) for vehicular traffic would be as signed on site.

Access to premises would be maintained wherever possible.

Exemptions would be provided for:
(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works;

(d) local vehicular access and egress to properties on the closed section of the road.

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS GODIVA IN THE CITY 2026

Coventry City Council (“the Council”), under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intends to make a temporary Order to enable the ‘Godiva in the City 2026’ event (“the Event”) to take place safely.

The Order would take effect from 07:00 hours on Thursday 2nd July 2026 until 20:00 hours on Monday 6th July 2026

The effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading, or unloading, entering or proceeding on the lengths of road set out in The Schedule below. The restrictions would apply at such times and to such extent as stated and when prescribed traffic signs are being displayed.

Exemptions to the Order would be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or an authorised event marshal;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles when necessary at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

(c) any vehicle being used in connection with the Event.

(d) Pedestrian access to all properties within the restriction and access through the restriction would be maintained along defined routes throughout the period of the closure

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS WAINBODY AVENUE SOUTH, COVENTRY

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding on Wainbody Avenue South on the highway fronting no. 158 and then continuing for approximately 10m in each direction.

The Order would come into effect at 00:01 hours on Tuesday 7th July 2026 and is required to allow Severn Trent Water to repair a frame and cover on the said road.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by Tuesday 7th July 2026.

Coventry City Council, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended), intends to make a temporary Order, the effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from waiting, loading or unloading, entering or proceeding along Jackson Road commencing at its junction with Newport Road and continuing to its junction with Holbrook Road.

The Order would come into effect from 00:01 hours on Wednesday 8th July 2026 and is required to enable the safe rebuild of a sluice valve chamber.

The maximum duration of the Order is eighteen (18) months or until the said works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is expected that the works would be completed by Friday 10th July 2026.

Exemptions would be provided for:

(a) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or civil enforcement officer in uniform;

(b) emergency service vehicles, local authority vehicles and statutory undertaker vehicles at the time of an emergency for that vehicle to have access to part of a street under restriction imposed by the Order;

NOTICE OF INTENT
LONDON ROAD SOUTH CYCLEWAY
PROPOSED RAISED TABLES AND CONTROLLED PEDESTRIAN/CYCLE CROSSINGS – LONDON ROAD

Notice is hereby given that Coventry City Council (“the Council”), intends to install physical traffic calming measures and controlled crossings on London Road as part of the London Road South Cycleway Scheme.

The details of the proposed measures are as follows: -

A. Raised Tables to be installed on the following junctions with London Road (pursuant to S.90 of the Highways Act 1980)

i) Carnegie Close

ii) Sunbury Road

iii) Stonehouse Lane

The said Raised Tables to be of a height of 100mm to 125mm. B. Controlled Pedestrian/Cycle Crossings to be installed on London Road at the following locations (pursuant to S.23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984):-

i) Pedestrian Crossing approximately 100 metres south of Abbey Road

ii) Toucan Crossing – approximately 11 metres south of Robert Close

PROPOSED TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER CITY OF COVENTRY (LONDON ROAD – ABBEY ROAD SOUTH TO ST JAMES’ LANE)
(PROHIBITION OF TURNS) (REVOCATION) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that Coventry City Council (“the Council”), pursuant to its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), propose to make the above Traffic Regulation Order (“the Order”).

The effect of the proposed Order is to revoke the existing ‘City of Coventry (London Road to Abbey Road South to St James’ Lane)(Prohibition of Turns) Order 1973’ in its entirety. The Council considers the prohibitions contained in the 1973 Order are no longer be necessary due to the introduction of traffic signals at the Chace Avenue junction. The effect of the proposed revocation will enable vehicular traffic to lawfully make the turns set out in the Schedule below

The details of the changes proposed by this Order are contained in the Statement of Reasons and plan all of which are available on the Council’s website (see link below).

A copy of this Notice, the draft Order, plan and Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the Council House (reception area) Earl Street, Coventry and on the Council’s website ‘www.coventry.gov.uk/tro’.
