What is happening?
Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Sherborne
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Roads, Sherborne as listed: [i] A30, Sherborne from junction with Bradford Road to junction with B3148 Marston Road; [ii] Acreman Street, Sherborne from junction with A30 to a point 30 metres to the south of Cornhill; [iii] Cornhill, Sherborne from junction with A30 to junction with Acreman Street. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 6th July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 11th July 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

The County of Dorset, Various Roads, Dorset - 20mph and 30mph Speed Limit Orders 202*
Dorset Council proposes to make Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.
The effect of the Orders will be to introduce 20mph and 30mph speed limits along sections of various roads in Abbotsbury, Bridport, Broadmayne, Burton Bradstock, Charminster, Leigh, Loders, Maiden Newton, Portesham, Warmwell and West Bay.

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 3rd August 2026 and remain in force for 18 months however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 18th August 2026.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
[1] To impose temporary road closure of West Lane, North Wootton from junction with A3030 to junction with Haydon Road (in both directions), a distance of approximately 2190 metres. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road two weeks advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closure will affect the roads.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway along West Lane, North Wootton from junction with A3030 to junction with Haydon Road (in both directions), a distance of approximately 2190 metres. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986

Temporary Closure of Sandford Orcas Road, Sandford Orcas
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Sandford Orcas Road, Sandford Orcas outside Rose Cottage (in both directions), a distance of approximately 50 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 8th July 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 5th August 2026
This Order will provide Blackmore Vale Thatching Ltd with safe access to erect scaffold for re-thatching of a cottage roof.
An alternative vehicular route will be signed using Sandford Orcas Road, Great Pit Lane, B3148, Coombe and vice versa.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath N59/24, Cann
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Footpath N59/24, Cann, from grid reference ST88308 20755 to grid reference ST88374 20905, a distance of approximately 180 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It came into operation on 5th January 2026 for a period of 26 weeks initially, however has been extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport and will now remain in operation until 5 January 2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
This Order is required to allow construction work on C13 Dinah’s Hollow under road closure. South west end of the footpath will lead into compound area/ construction site.
There will be no alternative route possible on this occasion.
