(Off-Street Parking Places (Portman Road C) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that Ipswich Borough Council has made the above Order under Sections 32, 35 and 35A and Schedule 9 (Part IV) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Local Authority Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996 and all other enabling powers. The general nature and effect of this Order is to amend the definition (as shown by a plan) of the parking place known as ‘Portman Road C’ within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 (as amended) to incorporate the land of the former NCP car park on Portman Road. The class of vehicle, charging hours and scale of charges will be as per the current Portman Road C parking place, as follows:

Up to 1 hour = £1.40. Up to 2 hours = £2.70. Up to 3 hours = £4.00. Up to 4 hours = £5.30. Up to 5 hours = £6.40. All day (up to 24 hours) = £7.50. Pre-Paid All Day Ticket (up to 24 hours) = £7.13. Season tickets: 12 months (valid Monday – Friday) = £1,403, 12 months (valid all week) = £1,485, 12 months (valid 1800 to 0800 Monday – Friday and all day Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays) = £371. Maximum stay = 24 hours (multiple 24 hour stays allowed per all day ticket purchased and displayed) (except for holders of a valid season ticket).

On days when an event (including football matches) has been scheduled to take place at the Portman Road stadium:

For parking stays that commence during the period from 3 hours before commencement of the event until 1 hour after commencement (tickets valid until 10pm same day) = £15.

(Other than as listed above, there will be no other changes to the 2022 Order as amended).

The Order was made on 16th June 2026 and will come into effect on 23rd June 2026.

If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
