Notification of Road Closure for Special Events
Notice is hereby given that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council
by virtue of the powers conferred on it by Article 8A and Schedule of 3A
of the Road Traffic Regulation (Northern Ireland) Order 1997, is minded
to make an Order to temporarily restrict or prohibit all traffic for the
following events:
Rossi 5k
An application has been received from Martin McGinn for the purposes
of Rossi 5k.
The restriction will start on Saturday 18 July 2026 from 5pm to 6.30pm.
Temporary Traffic Control: Rostrevor Square Car Park, Greenpark Road,
Levellyreagh Road, Drumsesk Road, Warrenpoint Road, Mary Street,
Church Street, Warrenpoint.
Wake the Giant
An application has been received from Newry, Mourne and Down
District Council for the purposes of Wake the Giant.
The restriction will start on Saturday 1 August 2026 from 1.30pm to
2pm and Sunday 2 August from 3.15pm to 4pm.
Full Road Closures: Seaview from Whistledown Hotel towards
Warrenpoint Port, Havelock Place, Marine Parade and Dock Street.
Loughside Festival
An application has been received from Tara Cunningham for the
purposes of Loughside Festival.
The restriction will start on Sunday 16 August 2026 from 10am to 12pm.
Full Road Closures: Havelock Place, Seaview, Mound Road Warrenpoint.
Temporary Traffic Control: Dock Street, Church Street, A2, Newry Street,
Donaghauguy Road, Ballymaconaghy Road, Rostrevor Road, Duke Street,
Church Street, Queen Street, Warrenpoint.
Alternative routes will be signed for all events.
A copy of the road closure request application forms, routes and
diversion maps may be inspected electronically at
or in person at the address below.
Persons wishing to make representations to the Council regarding the
proposals may make representations in writing at the address below by
5pm, Thursday 9 July 2026. Representations received after this date will
not be considered.
