THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.11) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 20th July 2026 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Lygetun Drive from its junction with Wauluds Bank Drive to its junction with Northwell Drive. Diversion route via Northwell Drive, The Moakes, Wauluds Bank Drive. Alternatively, via Wauluds Bank Drive, Bramingham Road, Northwell Drive. Anticipated date and times of closure 20th July 2026 to 27th July 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Marston Gardens from its junction with Westbury Gardens to its junction with Westlecote Gardens. Diversion route via Stockingstone Road, Old Bedford Road, Marston Gardens, Westlecote Gardens. Anticipated date and times of closure 20th July 2026 to 27th July 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Limbury Road from its junction with Marsh Road to its junction with Neville Road Roundabout. Diversion route via Trinity Road, Blundell Road, Marsh Road. Alternatively, via Marsh Road, Bramingham Road, Icknield Way, Neville Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 21st July 2026 to 28th July 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Austin Road from its junction with Nunnery Lane to its junction with Wadhurst Gardens. Diversion route via Trinity Road, Neville Road, Riddy Lane, New Bedford Road. Alternatively, via New Bedford Road, Montrose Avenue, Bishopcotes Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 21st July 2026 to 28th July 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Trinity Road from its junction with Neville Road Roundabout to its junction with Nunnery Lane. Diversion route via Limbury Road, Marsh Road, Leagrave Road, Woodland Avenue, Bishopcotes Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 21st July 2026 to 28th July 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Quantock Rise from its junction with Barton Road to its junction with Whitehorse Vale. Diversion route via Quantock Rise, Newbold Road, Icknield Way, Barton Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 24th July 2026 to 31st July 2026, 8am to 6pm.
Icknield Way from its junction with Newbold Road to its junction with Bramingham Road. No diversion route available. Anticipated date and times of closure 22nd July 2026 to 29th July 2026, 9am to 4pm.
Bramingham Road from its junction with Icknield Way to its junction with Ailsworth. Diversion route via Icknield Way, Neville Road, Trinity Road, Austin Road, New Bedford Road, Icknield Way. Anticipated date and times of closure 23rd July 2026 to 30th July 2026, 9am to 4pm.
Montrose Avenue from its junction with Stockingstone Road to its junction with Biscot Road. Diversion route via New Bedford Road, Austin Road, Trinity Road, Limbury Road, Marsh Road, Woodlands Avenue, Montrose Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 23rd July 2026 to 30th July 2026, 9am to 4pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Volker Highways to carry out carriageway surfacing works. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
