(AMENDMENT) (NO. 95) ORDER 2026
(A576) Manchester Old Road (Bus Corridor), Middleton
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rochdale Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1), 2 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has made an Order, the effect of which is to:
(i) Amend the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township) Order 2008, by inserting the following:-
Schedule No. 1.1
No Waiting at Any Time
Manchester Old Road, South Middleton Ward
n(i) the southerly side from its junction with Bonny Brow Street for a distance of 21 metres in a south-westerly direction.
n(ii) the southerly side from a point 56 metres south-west
of its junction with Bonny Brow Street for a distance of
5 metres in a south-westerly direction.
n(iii) the northerly side in a north-easterly direction from a point 10 metres south-west of its junction with Wilton Street to a point 10 metres north-east of its junction with Wilton Street.
Wilton Street, South Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Manchester Old Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north-westerly direction.
Blackley Street, South Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Manchester Old Road for a distance of 11 metres in a south-easterly direction.
Egerton Street, South Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from its junction with Manchester Old Road for a distance of 9 metres in a north-westerly direction.

No Waiting Mon-Sat 7.30am-6.30pm

n(i) the southerly side in a south-westerly direction between a point 162 metres west of its junction with Silburn Way to a point 182 metres west of its junction with Silburn Way.
(ii) Revoke those parts of the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Middleton Township)
Order 2008, as follows:-

n(i) the south side from its junction with Bonny Brow Street to a point 65 metres west of its junction with Bonny Brow Street. Wilton Street, South Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from a point 2 metres north of its junction with Manchester Old Road to a point 10 metres north of its junction with Manchester Old Road. Blackley Street, South Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from a point 5 metres south of its junction with Manchester Old Road to a point 11 metres south of its junction with Manchester Old Road. Egerton Street, South Middleton Ward
n(i) both sides from a point 2 metres north of its junction with Manchester Old Road to a point 9 metres north of its junction with Manchester Old Road.
A copy of the Order and plans showing the lengths of roads concerned, together with a Statement of Reasons for making the Order, may be viewed on the Council’s website www.rochdale.gov.uk/roads, or by phoning Highways on 0300 303 8879 to request a copy via post.
If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks from 18th June 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
The Order will come into effect on 1st August 2026.
