What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CAPELL ROAD/CAPELL AVENUE, RICKMANSWORTH) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Capell Road/Capell Avenue, Rickmansworth from its junction with Capell Way south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Furze View, a distance of approximately 359m (“the length of Roads”).

An alternative route will be via Capell Way, Hubbards Road and Furze View.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON MILTON STREET, WATFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Milton Street, Watford from its junction with Parker Street north westwards to its junction with Shakespeare Street, a distance of approximately 145m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Parker Street, Leavesden Road and Shakespeare Street.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A411 (ELSTREE ROAD/WATFORD ROAD), ELSTREE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A411 (Elstree Road/Watford Road), Elstree from its junction with the A41 Tylers Way/A41 North Western Avenue (Watford Bypass) roundabout north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with A5183 High Street, a distance of approximately 1592m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A41 North Western Avenue (Watford Bypass) and A5183 (Elstree Hill South/High Street).

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 9 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON VARIOUS ROADS IN WOODSIDE AND WATFORD) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of A41 North Western Avenue, Woodside and A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/Otterspool Way), Watford from its junction with the A41 The Dome roundabout south eastwards to its junction with the M1 (junction 5) Berrygrove roundabout, a distance of approximately 1920m.

An alternative route will be via A412 St Albans Road, A411 Beechen Grove and A4008 Stephenson Way

or via A4008 Stephenson Way, A411 (Beechen Grove/Exchange Road/Beechen Grove) and A412 St Albans Road.

2. that length of Woodmere Avenue, Watford from its junction with A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way south westwards to its junction with Douglas Avenue, a distance of approximately 89m.

An alternative route will be via A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Bushey Mill Lane and Woodmere Avenue.

3. that length of Westlea Avenue, Watford from its junction with A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way north eastwards to its junction with Meriden Way, a distance of approximately 87m.

An alternative route will be via A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Garston Lane, The Gossamers, York Way and Meriden Way.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A5183 ELSTREE HILL NORTH, ELSTREE) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A5183 Elstree Hill North, Elstree from its junction with B5378 Allum Lane southwards for a distance of approximately 100m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via A5183 (Watling Street/Cobden Hill/Watling Street/Radlett Road/Frogmore/Park Street/Watling Street), A405 (North Orbital Road/St Albans Road/North Orbital Road), A412 St Albans Road, A41 (North Western Avenue/North Western Avenue Colne Way/Otterspool Way/Elton Way/Tylers Way/North Western Avenue (Watford Bypass)) and A5183 (Elstree Hill South/High Street/Elstree Hill North).

The Order is needed because drain and gas main works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 6 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 4 weeks to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN MOVEMENTS FROM A4178 CASSIO ROAD INTO WHIPPENDELL ROAD, WATFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a left turn manoeuvre from A4178 Cassio Road into Whippendell Road, Watford (“the Roads”), when signs are in place.

An alternative route will be via A4178 Cassio Road, A412 (Rickmansworth Road/St Albans Road), A411 (Beechen Grove/Exchange Road), Marlborough Road and Whippendell Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 22 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bedmond Road, Hemel Hempstead/Pimlico/Bedmond, Church Hill/High Street, Bedmond and Bedmond Road, Abbots Langley from its junction with A4147 Leverstock Green Road south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Tibbs Hill Road, a distance of approximately 4783m (“the length of Roads”).

An alternative route will be via A4147 (Leverstock Green Road/Leverstock Green Way), A414 (St Albans Road/Two Waters Road/Two Waters Way), A41 (unnamed road/Watford Road/Hempstead Road/North Western Avenue/Gadeside), Aerodrome Way, Langley Lane and Tibbs Hill Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 22 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 20 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STATION APPROACH, CHORLEYWOOD) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Station Approach, Chorleywood from a point 233m south east of its junction with Shire Lane south eastwards for a distance of approximately 148m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Station Approach, Shire Lane, Lower Road, Chorleywood Bottom and Station Approach.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 20 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
