GORCHYMYN TRAFFORDD YR M48 (PONT HAFREN, SIR FYNNWY) (GWAHARDDIADAU A CHYFYNGIADAU TRAFFIG DROS DRO) 202-_

MAE GWEINIDOGION CYMRU yn bwriadu gwneud Gorchymyn o dan adran 14 o Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 mewn dim lai na 7 niwrnod i ddyddiad yr Hysbysiad hwn. Mae angen y Gorchymyn arfaethedig er mwyn gwneud gwaith ar Bont Hafren yr M48, neu gerllaw iddi.

Effaith y Gorchymyn arfaethedig fydd gwneud y canlynol dros dro:

i. cau nail ai’r gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain neu tua’r gorllewin ar y darn o’r M48 a ddisgrifir yn Atodlen 1 i’r Hysbysiad hwn. Bydd gwrthlif yn weithredol ar y lôn allanol o ba un bynnag o’r cerbytffyrdd sy’n aros ar agor i draffig;

ii. gwahardd pob cerbyd rhag mynd ar y darnau o’r M48 a bennir yn Atodlen 2 i’r Hysbysiad hwn;

iii. gosod terfyn cyflymder 30 mya ar y darnau o’r M48 a bennir yn Atodlen 3 i’r Hysbysiad hwn;

iv. gosod terfyn cyflymder 50 mya ar y darn o’r M48 a bennir yn Atodlen 4 i’r Hysbysiad hwn.

Daw’r Gorchymyn i rym ar 6 Gorffennaf 2026. Disgwylir y bydd y cyfyngiadau a’r gwaharddiadau dros dro, y codir arwyddion priodol yn eu cylch, yn weithredol o 00:01 o’r gloch ar 6 Gorffennaf 2026 hyd 06:00 o’r gloch ar 3 Hydref 2026 neu hyd nes y caiff yr arwyddion traffig dros dro eu symud ymaith yn barhaol.

Bydd y gwaith yn cael ei wneud drwy gymysgedd o wrthlif, cau lonydd a chau cerbytffordd yn gyfan gwbl. Pan fydd y Bont ar gau yn ei chyfanrwydd neu pan fydd y gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain neu tua’r gorllewin ar gau ac nad oes gwrthlif ar waith, y llwybr arall ar gyfer cerbydau sy’n teithio tua’r dwyrain yw mynd ar yr M48 tua’r de-orllewin hyd at Gyffordd 23 (M4) a Phont Tywysog Cymru yr M4 tua’r dwyrain hyd at Gyffordd 21 (M4): i’r gwrthwyneb ar gyfer cerbydau sy’n teithio tua’r gorllewin.

Dim ond yn ystod y cyfnod a bennir uchod y disgwylir i’r Gorchymyn fod yn weithredol. Er hynny, bydd yn parhau’n ddilys am gyfnod o 18 mis ar y mwyaf rhag ofn y bydd angen ailamserlennu’r gwaith neu wneud gwaith canlyniadol neu waith arall. Bydd hysbysiad am unrhyw newidiadau i’r amseroedd a’r dyddiadau yn cael ei arddangos cyn gwneud unrhyw waith a ailamserlennir.

Y darn o gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain y draffordd sy’n ymestyn o drwyniad y man lle y mae’n gwyrô â thraffordd yr M4 wrth Gyffordd 23 (Rogiet) hyd at bwynt 47 o fetrau i’r gorllewin o’r uniad mecanyddol ym mhen gorllewinol Pont Hafren yr M48.

Y darn cyfan o ffordd ymuno tua’r dwyrain yr M48 wrth Gyffordd 2 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse), Cas-gwent.

Y darn o ffordd ymadael tua’r dwyrain yr M48 wrth Gyffordd 2 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse), Cas-gwent o’r man lle y mae’n gwyrô â’r brif gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain am bellter o 110 o fetrau.

THE M48 MOTORWAY (SEVERN BRIDGE, MONMOUTHSHIRE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC PROHIBITIONS & RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 202-

THE WELSH MINISTERS propose, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near the M48 Severn Bridge.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily:

i. close either the eastbound or westbound carriageway of the length of the M48 described in Schedule 1 to this Notice. Contra-flow will operate in the offside lane of whichever carriageway remains open to traffic;

ii. prohibit vehicles from proceeding on the lengths of the M48 specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice;

iii. impose a 30 mph speed limit on the lengths of the M48 specified in Schedule 3 to this Notice;

iv. impose a 50 mph speed limit on the length of the M48 specified in Schedule 4 to this Notice.

The Order will come into force on 6 July 2026. The temporary prohibitions and restrictions, which will be indicated by traffic signs, are expected to operate from 00:01 hours on 6 July 2026 until 06:00 hours on 3 October 2026, or until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.

Works will be carried out under a mixture of contraflow, lane closures and full carriageway closures. When the Bridge is closed in its entirety or the eastbound or westbound carriageway is closed and no contraflow is in place, the alternative route for eastbound vehicles is via the south-westbound M48 to Junction 23 (M4) and the eastbound M4 Prince of Wales Bridge to Junction 21 (M4): vice versa for westbound vehicles.

Although the Order is only expected to operate during the period specified above, it will remain valid for a maximum period of 18 months, as a contingency, should the work need to be rescheduled or consequential or other work is required. Notice of any changes to times and dates will be displayed before any rescheduled work begins.

Contraflow

The length of the motorway that extends from a point 80 metres east of the nosing of the M48 eastbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow to a point 47 metres west of the mechanical joint at the western end of the M48 Severn Bridge.

SCHEDULE 2

Temporary prohibition of vehicles

The length of the eastbound carriageway of the motorway that extends from the nosing of its diverge with the M4 motorway at Junction 23 (Rogiet) to a point 47 metres west of the mechanical joint at the western end of the M48 Severn Bridge.

The length of the westbound carriageway of the motorway that extends from a point 47 metres west of the mechanical joint at the western end of the M48 Severn Bridge to the nosing of the eastbound entry slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow.

The length of the M48 eastbound entry slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow.

SCHEDULE 3

Temporary 30 mph speed limit

The length of the eastbound carriageway of the motorway that extends from a point 92 metres east of the nosing of the eastbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow to a point 47 metres west of the mechanical joint at the western end of the M48 Severn Bridge.

The length of the M48 eastbound entry slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow.

The length of the M48 eastbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow from its diverge with the main eastbound carriageway for a distance of 110 metres.

The length of the westbound carriageway of the motorway that extends from a point 47 metres west of the mechanical joint at the western end of the M48 Severn Bridge to a point 200 metres west of the nosing of the westbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow.

The length of the westbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow.

SCHEDULE 4

Temporary 50 mph speed limit

The length of the eastbound carriageway of the motorway that extends from a point 632 metres west of the nosing of the eastbound exit slip road at Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), Chepstow to a point on the eastbound exit slip road located 154 metres east of the nosing of the eastbound exit slip with the main eastbound carriageway.
