PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT
MODIFICATION ORDER 2026

On the 28 May 2026 Hampshire County Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.  
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert the public footpath from its current alignment which commences at SU 7055 0626 and proceeds north-westwards through water works to SU 7048 0636, continuing south-westwards alongside the railway for approximately 151 metres to SU 7036 0626. The diverted route will be a 3-metre-wide path commencing at SU 7055 0626 and proceeding south-westwards to meet Hermitage Stream, continuing in a westerly direction across a footbridge to rejoining the existing line of the path at SU 7036 0626.  
A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the offices of Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD, and at the offices of Havant Borough Council, Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant, PO9 2AX at all reasonable hours; and online at www.hants.gov.uk/publicnotices. Copies of the Order and the map can be provided on request.   The Order comes into force when Hampshire County Council has certified that the work necessary to bring the new path into a fit condition for use by the public has been carried out, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 03 July 2026 make an application to the High Court.
