What is happening?
THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA
ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991 SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A) VARIOUS ROADS - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate highway drainage works they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to impose temporary restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph II below.
In addition, the alternative routes are also shown. Directly affected residents will be notified in advance of the dates and anticipated duration of each closure. However, to allow for contingencies the order will remain in force for eighteen months.
II.
1. Harriet Walk - Closed between its junction with Lowndes Square and Harriet Street. Alternate route for vehicular traffic is via Lowndes Square and Harriet Street. The one-way traffic order on Harriet Walk is suspended for the duration of the closure, to maintain access and egress.
2. Oxford Gardens - Closed between its junction with Ladbroke Grove and St Lawrence Terrace. Alternate route for vehicular traffic is via St Lawrence Terrace, Chesterton Road and Ladbroke Grove. Access will be permitted only for vehicles entering from Ladbroke Grove into Oxford Gardens (eastbound). No vehicles shall exit from Oxford Gardens onto Ladbroke Grove at this junction.
3. Campden Hill Road - Southbound directional closure between the junction of Notting Hill Gate and Uxbridge Street. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is Notting Hill Gate, Holland Park Avenue, Abbotsbury Road, Melbury Road, Kensington High Street and Campden Hill Road. III.
To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.
IV. The Order will come into effect on Thursday, 2nd July 2026 and under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until such time as all the works are completed.
V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.
VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
